Rules for the Use of San Francisco City Hall Legislative Chamber

There are strict guidelines that we will have to follow during the use of the Legislative Chamber as requested by the Clerk of the Board.

No waste paper may be left on the desks, floor, seats or benches. 
Commission staff will provide receptacles for each Commissioner to dispose of recyclable waste.

Eating and drinking are not allowed in the Chamber or Ante-room (area behind the Chamber) at any time, excepting water. 
There will be a bottled water fountain available for the Commissioners use in the Ante-room.  Commission staff will provide mugs for each Commissioner.

Please do not move desks or exchange chairs between one desk and another.

Please do not mark or draw on the Supervisor’s desk blotters.

Please do not mark or write on benches.

Standing is not allowed in the Legislative Chamber.
All persons must be seated, if there are no seats available you must wait outside the Chamber until seating is available.  If you have submitted a request to speak and are not able to be seated in the Chamber, you will be asked to wait outside and a staff person will notify you when your name is called.

 

Building Security:

All persons entering City Hall must pass through the metal detector.  Please allow time to pass through metal detectors.

San Francisco City Hall is wheelchair accessible and very convenient to public transportation with Van Ness, McAllister, Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, and Grove drawing the border, City Hall spans a two-block site of about 5.5 acres, and includes parking, sidewalks, and lawn areas. 

Taking BART or Muni Metro: The nearest Bart and Muni station is the Civic Center station--three blocks from City Hall. [Click on the link to get more information from Bart and Muni.]

Parking: Metered parking is available on Van Ness, McAllister, Grove, and Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place. A CityPark underground parking lot is located on McAllister, between Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and Larkin.

Directions from the South Bay (SF Airport): Take U.S. 101 north towards San Francisco. Take the U.S. 101 North/Duboce Ave./Mission Street exit. Keep right at the fork in the ramp. Turn Right onto Mission Street. Turn slight left onto Van Ness Ave. Turn right onto McAllister, right onto Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place.

Directions from the East Bay (Oakland Airport): Take Interstate 580. Exit onto Interstate 80 West towards San Francisco, After crossing the Bay Bridge, take at the 9th Street/Civic Center exit. Keep right at the fork in the ramp. Turn left onto Harrison Street, then turn right onto 9th Street. Turn slight left onto Hayes Street, then turn right onto Van Ness Ave.  Turn right onto McAllister, right onto Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place.

Directions from the North Bay: Take U.S. 101 south towards San Francisco. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and merge onto U.S. 101 South (Lombard Street). Turn right at the intersection of Lombard and Van Ness, onto Van Ness Ave.  Turn left onto McAllister, right onto Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place.
