Speaker/Lecture Series:
We will be offering a Community Seminar Series. This program is an opportunity for the community to learn about the watersheds they live in. Topics discussed: Salmon Life History, Impacts to Watersheds, Water Quality Monitoring, Restoration of your creek habitat and many more.

Education Programs:

  • Community Creek Walks to see spawning salmon.
  • Creek Naturalist Training Program - We offer a training program for volunteers who are interested in leading creek tours.
  • Community Seminar Program - We will be offering a program for the community to learn about the watersheds they live in. See above for topics.
  • Brochure w/Map - Where to view salmon and steelhead in the watershed.
  • Books - (for sale) Totem Salmon, plus a wide array of educational materials on watershed ecology, monitoring and restoration.

We also have other materials on Salmon Biology, Watershed Restoration, Technical Reports and other literature for reference and loan.

4th-12th Grades, Adult, Teacher, Non-Formal Educator, General Public, Government Agencies

Other Languages:
We have several programs in which we educate the public and are making efforts to recruit bilingual naturalists.

In-Service Training:
Teachers, Docents/Volunteers, Naturalists, Students/Interns, General Public, Policy Makers:
We offer programs for the general public to attend through our community seminar program. We also offer a training for Volunteer Naturalists to lead creek walks and educate the general public as well as government agencies and other organizations on the ecology and impacts in watershed systems.

Volunteer Opportunities

  Program:
Creek Naturalist Program
  Description:
Lead tours and educate the public about Salmon Life Histories, Stream Ecology, Watershed Impacts, Restoration Efforts, and Community Involvement.
  When Needed:
Late Fall through Winter
  Qualifications:
No prior experience necessary, but environmental education background is useful
  Commitment Required:
15 hours during spawning season
  Application/Training:
Attend all classes and field trips

Program:
Fish Rescue and Relocation Program

  Description:
Rescue stranded fish from isolated pools on creeks
  When Needed:
Summer
  Qualifications:
Must be willing and able to gently handle fish and walk in creek.
  Commitment Required:
4 hours
  Application/Training:
On an individual basis
