Mission:
The research program of the Fisheries Ecology Division is focused in two primary areas: 1) biological and economics research, supporting the restoration and recovery of threatened and endangered salmon in California (ocean and estuarine ecology; and 2) the scientific basis of management of west coast groundfish and salmon fisheries (recruitment processes). Research is conducted in close collaboration with academic (especially the University of California, Santa Cruz), state (e.g. California Department of Fish and Game) and federal (e.g. NMFS Northwest Fisheries Science Center) agency partners.
