Mission:
The mission of the Department of Conservation is to protect public health and safety, ensure environmental quality, and support the State’s long-term economic viability in the use of California’s land and mineral resources.
The California Geological Survey develops and disseminates technical information and advice on California’s geology, geologic hazards, and mineral resources.
In partnership with the people of California, the California Geological Survey achieves its mission through superior professional leadership, creativity, innovation, and cooperation and provides the highest quality technical expertise to the public for the betterment of the State’s economy and environment.
