Marinas & Recreational Boating: Interagency Coordinating Committee

Non-Point Source Interagency Coordinating Committee (IACC) Marinas and Recreational Boating Workgroup

The California Coastal Commission coordinates the Non-Point Source Interagency Coordinating Committee (IACC) Marinas and Recreational Boating Workgroup, an interagency workgroup addressing water quality issues for marinas and recreational boating.

The Goals of the Marina IACC are to:

  • Develop partnerships among entities (e.g., state, federal and local agencies) responsible for addressing NPS pollution related to boating and marinas;
  • Make efficient use of state, federal and local resources to address this pollution by  sharing information, avoiding duplicative efforts and identifying technical and policy  gaps; and;
  • Promote improvements to marina water quality through implementation of management practices

IACC Marinas and Recreational Boating Antifouling Strategy Workgroup

A sub-workgroup of the Marinas and Recreational Boating IACC is the Antifouling Strategy Workgroup.  This workgroup addresses water quality issues related to copper-based pesticide paints for boat hulls, and other antifouling issues.

The Department of Pesticides is the lead agency for the Antifouling Strategy Workgroup (formerly the Copper Antifouling Paint Sub-Workgroup. This workgroup’s goal is to assess the extent and geographical distribution of water pollution resulting from copper antifouling paint pesticides. The minutes from the quarterly meetings of the Antifouling Strategy sub-workgroup are posted on the Department of Pesticide Regulation website accessed through the following link:
