Mission:
To preserve, protect, and manage the natural and cultural resources of the Research Reserve, enhance scientific understanding and education, ensuring compatible recreation and resource use for the benefit of present and future generations. This will be accomplished through partnerships with the community, educational institutions, and government entities working in the estuary, its binational watershed, and biogeographic region.

Speaker/Lecture Series:
Friday Speaker Series, given on regional environmental topics, meets the 3rd Friday of the month.

•  Jr. Ranger Program - weekly after school program for kids 7-11 years on related wetland ecology
•  M.A.R.S.H. (Marsh Awareness with Resources for Slough Habitats) - on-site field trip program for grades 1-6
•  Tijuana Estuary Explorers - an in-classroom and on-site field trip program for grades 3-5
•  High School Teacher's Guide - a field-based, inter-disciplinary, estuary science curriculum with field trip opportunities for grades 9-12

Teacher trainings held monthly to prepare teachers and students for field trips to estuary. Students interested in water quality monitoring are trained on procedures and standards, Coastal Decision maker workshops.

•  Help with trail maintenance, exotic removal, native planting
•  Monitor endangered species during nesting season
