San Mateo County Resource Conservation District

www.sanmateorcd.org

Organization Type:
Non-Profit California Special District

Mission:
"Partners Conserving Natural Resources Since 1939"
The SMC RCD is a Special District organized exclusively for natural resource conservation including soil and erosion control, water supply and water quality, riparian corridors, protection and enhancement of native species, control of non-natives, open space, and education. The SMC RCD promotes the conservation of natural resources while maintaining the economic vitality of our region through the development of land stewardship ethics that result in long term sustainability of the state's rich and diverse natural resource heritage. The SMC RCD is non-regulatory and works voluntarily in partnership on both an individual and watershed basis with public and private land owners and managers, farmers, funders, technical advisors, and agencies. The role of the district in conservation is established in both state and federal law with services delivered through an agreement with the State Department of Conservation and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
