Camp hosts, golf course marshals, and student interns receive orientation and information for public use are involved in various field and office projects.

Volunteer Opportunities

  Description:
Group or individual volunteers:
•  Volunteer Host - volunteer camp hosts live in campsites and contribute approximately 20 hours per week to assist with maintenance and management of camp sites and RV parks, etc.
•  Trail Volunteers - assist SLO County Parks in the layout and construction of new trails and regular reconstruction and maintenance of existing trails
•  Docents - provides general information, natural history and assistance to visitors at all county parks facilities.
•  Advisory Council/Trails - appointed by the Parks Commission and Board of Supervisors to assist SLO Parks in new trails development and existing trails enhancement
  When Needed:
Year-round
  Qualifications:
No restrictions except those under 18 years old must be accompanied an adult and have immediate supervision.

Internship Opportunities

  Description:
Assist parks administrative staff with various research, technical, and planning projects focused on park development, new park design, Parks promotional events, and other duties which may involve clerical tasks.
  When Needed:
Year-round
  Qualifications:
Must be carrying 6 units or more at the college level. Must have student I.D.
  Application:
Application and interview procedures are the same as seasonal or temporary employees. Typically a recruitment period is used with candidates ranked and scheduled for interviews.
