Ocean Connectors: Connecting Youth for Conservation
In collaboration with various community groups, this program gives local schoolchildren in San Diego and Mexico the opportunity to witness and learn about marine life firsthand. Students receive presentations on sea turtle biology and conservation, and attend field trips to see real sea turtles in the wild. Students also participate in habitat restoration and service-learning activities to actively improve their natural surroundings. Schoolchildren have the opportunity to exchange letters about wildlife conservation with their counterparts in cities in Baja California Sur, Mexico. We show youth that they can be true Ocean Connectors themselves, just like the animals they are helping to protect.
