  • Into the Redwoods - classroom/on-site education program for grades 3-5 (sign-up in September)
  • Discovery Kits - bug boxes, magnifying lenses, compasses included in this guide for school groups that come here for field trips.
  • Into the Redwoods Video - We send this out to school groups before their visit. It is an introduction to redwoods and redwood ecology.
  • 15 Minute school group introduction by a park ranger or intern.

Interpretation volunteers
  Description:
Greet visitors at Information table, conduct roving trail interpretation; prepare and present Interpretive talks and walks, assist with numerous special events; assist with minor emergencies

Year-round, especially summer
  Qualifications:
Good communication skills; ability to work independently and with a diverse group of people; desire to learn about natural history

Natural Resource Volunteers

  Description:
Remove non-native invasive plants; help grow native plants form seeds and cuttings in a plant nursery, and plant at restoration sites
  When Needed:
Year-round, especially summer

Good communication skills; ability to work independently and with a diverse group of people; desire to learn about natural history

Internship Opportunities

  Program:
Interpretation Intern
  Description:
Develop and present 15 minute formal talks, present 15 minute intro program to school groups, perform trail roving, run information desk, answer phone and written information requests, assist with special events, assist rangers in emergency situations, assist staff with resource management services. Special assigned projects.

  Qualifications:
Good verbal and written communication skills developed leadership skills, ability to work independently and with a diverse group of people, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Program:
Intern

  Description:
15 Minute talks, roving trail, run Information Desk, conduct curriculum-based education programs on redwood forest communities, assist in design and presentation of teacher training workshops, present classroom lessons, schedule education programs with teachers and arrange bus transportation to the park, mail park educational materials and answer questions about educational programs, participate in educational training and evaluation of education programs, attend educational committee meetings, assist with resource management work.
  When Needed:
Year-round
  Qualifications:
Interest in environment and working with kids; good communication and leadership skills; ability to work independently; ability to speak Spanish or Cantonese is a plus; basic computer skills; valid driver's license and reliable transportation
