The Environmental Defenders is an environmental program for students in grades K-6 sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. The program features a high-energy assembly for all public and private schools in the County, attendance at community and youth events, and a variety of public outreach strategies to educate kids about the Three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Education Programs:
The Environmental Defenders offers a Teacher Resource Packet that includes a free environmental education resource listing and sample lessons plans developed by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, Heal the Bay and Los Angeles County. The sample lesson plans and activities for students in grades K-6 have been correlated to the Content Standards for California public schools K-12. These select lesson plans are ready-to-use and cover basic environmental concepts such as natural resources, recycling, water pollution prevention and household hazardous waste. Environmental Defenders posters were developed for teachers to use in their classrooms and provide tips kids can use to help keep our environment clean.
