Education Programs:

  • Residential Field Science Program including the following topics: Marine Science, Orinothology, Mammalogy, Botany, Coastal and Forest Ecology, Geology, Hydrology, Meteorology, Astronomy, Cultural History, Social Skills, Arts and Crafts, Creative Writing, and other activities.
  • Headlands Institute Bilingual and Outreach Program (HIBOP) offers the following programs: "Ocean Pollution and Solutions," "Marine Mammals," "Pond & Wetlands Study," "Coastal Geology," "Birding," "Tropical Rainforests and Biodiversity," "Reducing/Reusing/Recycling," and "Tracking."
  • The Teen Environmental Action Mentorship Program (TEAM) offers a ten-day training for high school students followed by the opportunity to teach environmental education lessons in the classroom to younger students in their community. They also host a Youth Summit.

Internship Opportunities

  Description:
The internship at the Headlands is designed for those wishing to increase their experience in the field of environmental education. The intern will have a rotating schedule, which includes observing field science teachers in the field, working on administrative projects in our office, delivering promotional slide presentations to schools, acting as support staff on the Headlands Institute campus and developing an educational project. This wide variety of experiences is intended to provide ample learning opportunities for the intern, while increasing program support for the Institute. Each internship is somewhat flexible, depending on the strengths, experience and needs of the particular person.
Duration: 6 months
  When Needed:
January-June and June-December
  Qualifications:
•  Four year College degree.
•  Demonstrated interest in the natural sciences.
•  Ability to perform physically demanding work in the outdoors under harsh weather conditions.
•  Interest, education or experience working with children.
•  Enthusiasm for learning and working with our educational team.
•  Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings.
