Any marine, coastal, or watershed topic related to science content taught at the K-5 level.

Educational Resources:
In-depth curriculum planning and professional development workshops for K-5 teachers. These programs are offered for all science topics; a focus on marine or water-related topics can always be requested by teachers.

Education Programs:

  • Connection Services help teachers connect with resources so they can do more and better hands-on science with their students. CRS maintains a database of more than 800 local science and environmental education program opportunities and thousands of materials and classroom activities. This database includes a wide variety of water-related resources, focusing on connections with elementary science curriculum. CRS responds to teacher's specific requests, including connecting them with scientist role models, setting up field trips or in-class programs, and providing material order forms or grant application forms.
  • Teacher Support Laboratory workshops help teachers work together to plan and teach hands-on science units that will engage students in reading, math, and other curriculum areas. CRS works with the whole faculty in 6-8 target schools each year and with hundreds more teachers in individual workshop settings.
  • Resource Development helps the local education community refine and develop science resources that meet the needs of elementary teachers and students, through research, data analysis, consulting and training.
