The Youth Watershed Education Team [YWET] Vision and Mission statements are:
Vision: Today’s environmental education messages are adopted as tomorrow’s life skills. The community values the environment and actively serves as stewards of the watershed.
Mission: Investing in the future now through planning and delivering ESD’s environmental education initiatives that promote understanding and encourage youth to adopt sustainable environmental habits.

Education Programs:
- It’s Wet, It’s Wild, It’s Water!, a teacher packet which includes a video, a watershed poster, and a teacher’s guide. Teachers are also given P2 materials such as Watershed Watch kits or “The Bay Begins at your Front Door” brochure. Students are given pencils with a message, “What creek do you live near by?”
- South Bay Water Connections, a teacher packet which includes (1) an activity binder with 18 lessons, (2) a wastewater paths poster, (3) a watershed poster.
- Three videos that feature an overview of South Bay water issues, a virtual tour of the Water Pollution Control Plant, and information on South Bay Water Recycling.
- Sewer Science provides a student workbook for each student, a teacher workbook, equipment to “make” tanks used in the creation of wastewater, and the measurement of the wastewater constituents.

In-service training and UCSC Extension classes are offered in an effort to integrate the use of the South Bay Water Connections Guide in classrooms within Santa Clara county.
