CIWMB’s Office of Education and the Environment offers curriculum materials through free workshops, and program assistance in the areas of waste prevention, recycling, composting, and vermicomposting.

Project Learning Tree: Municipal Solid Waste Module is available at no cost by attending a workshop. All other curricula and guides listed below are available at no cost.
- Closing the Loop: Exploring Integrated Waste Management and Resource Conservation (CTL) K-6th grade curriculum. CTL is an interdisciplinary and action-oriented curriculum for teachers to incorporate waste prevention, recycling, and composting into the classroom.
- Project Learning Tree: Municipal Solid Waste Module (MSW) is a 7-12th grade curriculum. This module helps educators teach students about our current solid waste dilemma through interesting hands-on activities. MSW provides students the realization they can create a positive change in their community and the environment.
- Earth Resources-A Case Study: Oil features more than 18 engaging lessons enabling students to learn about the lifecycle of a natural resource - oil. This 6-12th grade curriculum provides hands-on laboratory investigations.
- The Worm Guide: A Vermicomposting Guide for Teachers. This guide showcases how vermicomposting (worm composting) in a school setting can set the stage for a variety of interdisciplinary activities using school cafeteria waste for the worm bin.
