Education Programs:

  • Discover Your World Marine Science Program focuses on students in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. This program includes an overnight stay at the Los Angles South Bay hostel located in San Pedro and teaches environmental education, interpersonal skills, and intercultural understanding to students in the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Girl Scout’s Go Hostelling Patch – Focused on intercultural exploration and budget travel, girls choose between activities ranging from trip planning and interviewing international visitors, to participating in local volunteer projects. The patch helps girls become more engaged, caring world citizens.
  • Outreach Presentations – available to groups, organizations, and classes upon request. Program content is based on the needs of the group, organization, and teacher.

Service Fee:
The Discover Your World Marine Science Program – price varies each year depending on the amount of grants and/or sponsorship received. Regular price is $40 per participant and includes a hostel overnight stay and 14 hours of educational programming. The price does not include meals or transportation.
Outreach Presentations – made to the public, groups, organizations or classes are available upon request. There is no charge for Outreach Presentations within the Los Angeles Area.

Parking at our Los Angles South Bay Hostel is free. Parking at the Santa Monica Travel Centre is free for the first 2 hours.

Public Transit Access:
Los Angeles South Bay Hostel in San Pedro has best access from the MTA #446 at the Korean Bell stop.
The Travel Centre in Santa Monica has best access from the Santa Monica Blue Bus #10.

Disabled Access:
The HI-Travel Centre in Santa Monica has handicapped access.
