Plant: Annual, densely glandular (oil glands) and long hairy plant. Listed as rare, but abundant at Upper Newport Bay.
Flowers: Ray flowers yellow often aging yellow-orange. Disk flowers with brown or black anthers.
Leaf: Tips have spines.
