Directions to Upper Newport Bay Restoration Events
Shellmaker Island
From south Orange County:
Take the 405 freeway north;
Exit at “Jamboree”, turn left at end of exit ramp;
See below.*
From north Orange County:
Take the 405 freeway south;
Exit onto the 73 toll road (there are no tolls for the distance that you’re on this freeway);
Exit at “Jamboree”, turn right onto Jamboree (second traffic light off of exit ramp);
See below.*
From inland Orange County:
Take the 55 freeway towards Costa Mesa;
Exit onto the 73 toll road (there are no tolls for the distance that you’re on this freeway);
Exit at “Jamboree”, turn right onto Jamboree (second traffic light off of exit ramp);

*Once you’re on Jamboree:
Turn right on Back Bay Drive (last light before PCH);
Turn left on Shellmaker Road (last left turn before the white gate and brown “Ecological Reserve” sign);
Go through black gate and park in the parking lot;
You will be greeted by a CBREP staff member.
Muth Interpretive Center
From south Orange County:
Take the 405 freeway north;
Exit at “Jamboree”, turn left at end of exit ramp;
Turn right on Bristol;
Turn left on Irvine Avenue;

From north Orange County:
Take the 405 freeway south;
Exit onto the 73 toll road (there are no tolls for the distance that you’re on this freeway);
Exit at “Irvine Avenue”, turn right onto Irvine Avenue (first traffic light off of exit ramp);

From inland Orange County:
Take the 55 freeway towards Costa Mesa;
Exit onto the 73 toll road (there are no tolls for the distance that you’re on this freeway);
Exit at “Irvine Avenue”, turn right onto Irvine Avenue (first traffic light off of exit ramp);

*Once you’re on Irvine Avenue:
Turn left on University;
The parking lot is the first driveway on the right after you turn onto University;
The Muth Interpretive Center is built into the side of the hill and is not immediately in view from the road. You may park in the parking lot or you may park on the street for free;
If you park in the parking lot, please do not pay the parking fee. You will receive a parking pass when you sign in as a volunteer.
You will be greeted by a CBREP staff member.
Eastbluff Vista
From south Orange County:
Take the 405 freeway north;
Exit at “Jamboree”, turn left at end of exit ramp;

From north Orange County:
Take the 405 freeway south;
Exit onto the 73 toll road (there are no tolls for the distance that you’re on this freeway);
Exit at “Jamboree”, turn right onto Jamboree (second traffic light off of exit ramp);

Exit onto the 73 toll road (there are no tolls for the distance that you’re on this freeway);

*Once you’re on Jamboree:
Turn right on Eastbluff (immediately after crossing over bridge with view of the Bay to the right);
Park on the right hand side of Eastbluff. Street parking is available immediately after turning right onto Eastbluff;
Walk uphill to the corner of Eastbluff and Back Bay Drive. You will see an information kiosk next to a white fence overlooking the Upper Newport Bay;
You will be greeted by a CBREP staff member.
Watering Experiment
From south Orange County:

*Once you’re on Jamboree:
Turn right on Bay View Way (across from Fletcher Jones Mercedes Benz dealership and before crossing over bridge with view of Upper Newport Bay on right).
Go straight at the stop sign.
Park on either side of the street after the stop sign. Walk away from the Fletcher Jones dealership and on the left hand side of the road you’ll see the entrance to a paved biking/walking path. Enter the paved biking/walking path.
